All funds go to Student & Family Support at Eckstein

Many of our students do not have their basic needs met when coming to school. In order to support them in successfully engaging in their education, we use funds to provide:

  • Snacks
  • Backpacks
  • Water bottles
  • Clothing
  • Sports/extracurricular equipment
  • Hygiene products
  • Transportation to attend programming
  • Social emotional programming
  • Healthy Relationship Groups to teach communication skills and conflict management
  • Affinity groups such as Rainbow Club, Black Student Union, and Music Club
  • Summer program scholarships to keep kids engaged and safe during the summer
  • Tutoring and Pizza Club to provide tutoring, a meal and safe place to be after school

We also use funds to support families of Eckstein Middle School students through:

  • Community Cupboard
  • Gift cards for groceries
  • Rent support to prevent eviction
  • Utilities support

When our students' families are supported in their needs, we notice a higher engagement in school and student wellness.

Our goal is to raise $29,000

How will the funds be managed?

Each year, the teachers and staff of Eckstein put in “grant requests” to the PTSA. (For example, the math department may ask for new and better workbooks or the library may need new chairs.) The PTSA works with the principal to determine which grants are funded or deferred, based on need and budget.

How can I request funds from the EAC?

Anyone connected to the school—staff, parents, volunteers and friends of Eckstein—should feel comfortable requesting funds. Before doing any private fund raising, please consider contacting the EAC first. It's easier for you and helps us keep our school's parent fund-raising requests as focused as possible.
