What is the Eckstein Annual Campaign?

The Eckstein PTSA organizes The Eckstein Annual Campaign each year to ensure that every Eckstein student is given learning opportunities which promote academic success and social well-being.

The Impact of Eckstein Annual Campaign

This budget pays for essential needs that the school district does not provide. With your generous donation, we can support academics, athletics, the library, after-school clubs, enrichment activities, teacher resources, and community events. Some recently approved grants:

After School Programs

  • Tutor Club: This is the 4th year of the club that services students who need additional support. Provides payment to the educators, food, and school bus to get students home.
  • After School Clubs: Including basketball, chess, Dungeons and Dragons, Rainbow Society, Art League, Haunted Library, and many more.
  • Robot Kits: For Eckstein Engineers Club's entry into First Lego League Competition.

Family Support

  • Back-to-School Kickoff Event: For students living in our housing partners and McKinney Vento-identified homeless population.
  • Family Fun Nights: To strengthen family relationships between vulnerable communities and the school, building stronger trust and partnership in student success.
  • Clothes, Food, Rental Support: For families in need.

Music

  • Orchestra: Sheet music, strings, instruments, instrument cases, etc.
  • Choir: Music for performances, piano tuning, piano accompanist, etc.
  • Band: Instrument coaching, mouthpieces, neck-straps, sheet music, drumsticks, etc.

Art

  • Art Supplies: Art supplies and a new display showcase in the front hall.

Sports

  • Athletic Team Support: Final Forms, CPR, First Aid, Fingerprinting reimbursements.
  • Stipends: For sports coaches and assistant coaches.

Academics

  • Book Club Sets: For the Eagles Read list. Multiple copies allow the library to offer books that may have 3+ month waits at the public library.
  • General Classroom Supplies: Including calculators, power strips, dry erase markers, etc.
  • Science Lab: Including Mars lander supplies, egg drop supplies, rubber balls, etc.

Scholarships

  • Scholarship Funds: To ensure every student has access to yearbooks, spirit gear, and Camp Orkila (8th grade field trip).

How much money is needed and waht is the progress?

Our goal for the campaign is to raise $150,000. These funds will be used in the 2025 calendar year. Progress will be provided through social media and email updates throughout the campaign.

Is my donation tax-deductible?

Yes, all financial contributions to the Eckstein Annual Campaign are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law.


Who is behind the fundraiser?

The Eckstein PTSA operates the EAC fundraiser.


How will the funds be managed?

Each year, the teachers and staff of Eckstein put in “grant requests” to the PTSA. (For example, the math department may ask for new and better workbooks or the library may need new chairs.) The PTSA works with the principal to determine which grants are funded or deferred, based on need and budget.


Can I make a recurring donation?

Yes, the Alliance for Education offers a convenient monthly pament option.


How can I request funds from the EAC?

You can request money from the Eckstein Annual Campaign (EAC) for your supplies, projects, or specific family needs. Anyone connected to the school—staff, parents, volunteers and friends of Eckstein—should feel comfortable requesting funds. Before doing any private fund raising, please consider contacting the EAC first. It's easier for you and helps us keep our school's parent fund-raising requests as focused as possible.


What is the Alliance for Education? If I give to the Alliance does it go to Eckstein?

The Alliance for Education is a US 501(c)(3) non-profit organization that for Seattle Public Schools. They act as our financial administrator and payment processor. Note that any money given directly to the Alliance for Education should specify Eckstein Middle School #134 so that it can support Eckstein Middle School and our feeder elementary programs. All decisions on how the campaign dollars are utilized remain with Eckstein PTSA and principal based on needs and budget. Any money given to Alliance without specifying Eckstein #134 will not go to Eckstein.


Can I use a Donor Advisor Fund?

Yes! In the charity navigator tool, find Alliance for Education, 509 Olive Way, Suite 500, Seattle, WA 98101. In the notes field, specify "Eckstein Middle School - #134" as the gift purpose.


All financial contributions to the Eckstein Annual Campaign are tax deductible to the extent allowed by law. The Eckstein Annual Campaign is fiscally administrated by the Alliance for Education.
